Mahlon Haynes owned a very successful shoe company in the early 1900’s. Mr. Haynes’ own motto was “I came into this world with nothing, and I plan to leave it the same way”. So he spent his money how ever he wanted. And that was mainly pleasing others. He built this 3 story shoe house in the 1940’s and primarily used it to let newlyweds (who came from a town that sold his shoes) spend their honeymoon there. Equipped with a chef, chauffeur, maid, and plenty of new clothes and shoes.
