The Market Theater Gum Wall aka Seattle Gum Wall is a brick wall covered in used chewing gum, in an alleyway in downtown Seattle. It is located in Post Alley under Pike Place Market.
Starting 30 years ago when patrons were waiting to get into the Market Theater, it became an unofficial way to pass time. Then, it became a tradition. The entire alley is covered in used gum from not just patrons, but now tourists.
We filmed here in August 2015. 3 months later the city decided they were going to completely wash off the entire wall. They then encouraged people to start it all over again.
