While on our “Exploring The Obscure Across America” tour, we arrived in Lawrence, Kansas. On my birthday. So what better way to spend it than to go to The Sandbar located in this college town. Oh, and partake in the tradition of experiencing an indoor hurricane. Why not? The tradition which has been going on more than a decade, requires the birthday person, or, anyone willing to pay the cost to get dressed up like a mermaid, stand on the bar, recite a poem, and then experience the indoor vortex.
Once your done reading your poem, they then play a video to which you must coordinate a dance (or at least try), and you are then hit by very high winds, fog, water, and napkins thrown your way.
